Light amber color. An intriguing combination of caraway, aniseed and orange peel is prominent in the aroma, followed by a delicate hint of vanilla. Oak combines with the caraway and aniseed to give great complexity, while old sherry notes give a rich, well-rounded flavor. A well-composed aftertaste of spices and sherry lingers for a few minutes.
The original botanical recipe of LINIE Aquavit has remained unchanged since its creation, more than 200 years ago.
LINIE is a potato-based spirit, distilled in pot stills with a special blend of Nordic herbs and spices to give it its distinct flavour. The young spirit is placed in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks to develop further. Ultimately the casks are sent on a sea journey across the world to mature.
Stored in former Sherry casks, this aquavit famously takes a sea voyage across the world, sailing to Australia and back, crossing the equator or "linie" twice. The end result is a bright buttercup hue and mellow vanilla, spearmint, clove and oak tones, plus a silky butterscotch finish.
