Château-Bonalgue Pomerol 2015
|Region||France, Bordeaux, Pomerol|
Made by the young Jean-Baptiste Bourotte, the 2015 Bonalgue is a ripe, downright sexy Pomerol that does everything right. Offering medium to full-bodied richness and loads of ripe fruits, dried flowers, leather, and even a hint of meaty/bloodiness, this 100% Merlot has no hard edges, a beautiful, opulent texture, and a great finish that keep you coming back to the glass. I like it today but it's going to cruise in the cellar for 10-15 years.
Features plum and blackberry fruit flavors, with a lightly mulled edge. Light tobacco and coffee accents show through the soft-edged, medium-weight finish. Drink now through 2019. 4,000 cases made, 62 cases imported.
Tasted from bottle, the 2015 Bonalgue comes across a bit awkward, with green notes and burly tannins that dominate the wine's balance. Today, the 2015 is quite aggressive and clearly a work in progress.
