Our 2010 Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc is an Ode to freshness. Fruit from the Ledbetter Family Vineyard and the Calk Ridge Ranch was chosen for this blend. Our chosen style is one that balances fruit character with a nice minerality and a great length.
The wine was minimally processed, with only a small fraction spending time in older (neutral) barrels, just enough to add a light layer of creaminess over the core of honeydew, pear and grapefruit flavors. Our style of Sauvignon Blanc aims to layer the minerality we love in Loire Region wines with the great fruit character we are blessed with in California. When released, the wine shows mainly tropical fruit character, balanced by a lively acidity. As it ages over the next few years, some honey and apple pie character will start developing, adding richness and depth to the wine.
With just a touch of oak providing creamy vanilla flavors, this wine's real stars are the lemon, lime and tropical fruit flavors, which have such a pretty minerality. It's a little sweet, but refreshing acidity balances that out.
