Casisano Brunello di Montalcino 2011
|Appellation||Brunello di Montalcino|
Wine EnthusiastAromas of grilled herb, dark spice and mature black-skinned fruit lead the nose. The ripe, generous palate doles out succulent black cherry, raspberry compote, licorice and nutmeg alongside round, velvety tannins. Drink through 2020.
Wine AdvocateCasisano is the new Montalcino estate owned by one of Amarone's most important wine families. The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Casisano is a very pretty red wine with nice aromatic definition. It reveals savory notes of spice and cured tobacco, with delicate berry and floral notes as well. The wine is streamlined and tight with sharp acidity and lean consistency. Although the wine shows no signs of the vintage ripeness or heat, neither does it show the extra softness and plushness that is characteristic of the vintage. The finish is a little short.
Wine SpectatorRich and savory, with cherry and plum flavors offset by leather, tobacco and wild herb notes. Stays firm and fresh on the finish. Drink now through 2024. 1,200 cases imported.
