Mud House Sauvignon Blanc
Mudhouse Wines, based in Marlborough, was founded in 1996 with the express purpose of creating the best boutique wines from New Zealand's famed Marlborough region. After capturing the trophy for "The Best Sauvignon Blanc in the World" at the International Wine and Spirits Competition in London, Mud House seems to have done just that. Under the guidance of winemaker Ant Mackenzie, the winemaking team adheres to a strict philosophy of non-interventionist techniques, believing that the best possible wines will naturally express themselves through the unique terroir of the Wairau Valley, an ancient river site. Silt, loamy soil, and gravel, which have been deposited from the river, predominate. As a result of these ideal soils, the wines possess a spectrum of exciting flavors. Along with this great fruit of Marlborough, vineyards in Central Otago & Gisborn are being sourced to bring new varietals, higher quality wines and more diversity into the lineup.
