MacMurray Ranch Central Coast Pinot Noir 2014
Wine EnthusiastQuite a steal of a deal for a widely available wine, this shows cinnamon, red cherry, ripe cranberry, light tobacco and a touch of leather on the rustic nose. Once sipped, the mouthfeel is soft, offering flavors of cranberry and red cherry that are spiced by thyme, bay leaf and more cinnamon.
Wine AdvocateA barrel sample of the 2014 Pinot Noir from the Central Coast (primarily from the Santa Lucia Highlands, but with a small amount from the Santa Rita Hills) was aged completely in older oak. Cranberry, pomegranate, and sweet and sour cherries are present in this barrel sample, which reveals very little oak and has an attractive, fruit-forward, lush character.
Wine SpectatorSolid if unexciting, with a modestly appealing offering of plum and spice notes. Drink now. 151,000 cases made.
